The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) General Secretary, Akello Misori, wants the government to decentralize examination marking centers to save teachers unnecessary movements. Misori while addressing the media in Homa Bay County said devolving the marking centers would cushion teachers from contracting the deadly Covid-19.

The union official noted that it is unfair for the ministry of Education to insist on having the examination marking centers in Nairobi yet the same marking can be done at the county level.

Misori at the same time questioned the frequent delay by the National Treasury to release funds to schools saying lack of capitation derails learning activities. Misori said money should be released early enough to schools to avoid disruption of the learning process.
