Akelo Misori has won his seat as Secretary General of KUPPET in an election that was done today via zoom due to the national lockdown over the coronavirus pandemic. The election saw all of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers – KUPPET national officials re-elected unopposed.
The election was presided over by the Acting Commissioner of Labour, Ms Hellen Apiyo.
Akelo Misori said that the proclamation of Public Order No. 2 of 2021 on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which saw the Government suspend public gatherings indefinitely seriously affected plans for the Special Delegates Conference, which had been planned since November 2020.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Misori said the union’s first mandate will be to undertake an urgent review of its constitution to provide for emerging imperatives such as voting through technology.
