The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary General Akelo Misori has sent his condolences to the people of Tanzania and the family of former President John Pombe Magufuli. Misori said as a teacher he was saddened by the death of President Magufuli who was a teacher before going into politics. Misori said that Magufuli was a leader with foresight who improved agriculture in his country and had zero tolerance for corruption.
However, the Secretary General noted that former President Magufuli’s legacy is dented by his dismissal of science yet he was a science teacher and his failure to rally Tanzanians in fighting the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. Misori further noted that Magufuli’s image as a leader is dented due to his intolerance for democratic principals and the handling of opposition leaders in Tanzania in the general election of last year.
